ASUS Zenfone 10 May Mark the End of the Line for the Series
ASUS’ Zenfone series has been around since 2014, almost a decade since the company first debuted the Zenfone range of smartphones. However, reports now suggest that the ASUS Zenfone 10 could be the last Zenfone device from the Taiwanese tech giant.
As discovered by 9to5Google, ASUS is currently undergoing an organizational shake-up that has resulted in workforce reductions in the company’s PC division in both China and Taiwan. According to the report, ASUS had previously planned to hire more staff for its mobile division – covering both the Zenfone and ROG lineups, but those plans were changed – leading to layoffs instead.
Now, Taiwanese media sources reveal that the Zenfone 10 “will be the last generation of this series.” In addition, “the Zenfone team will be integrated in the future with other departments or directly with the ROG team.”
Notably, the ASUS Zenfone 10 has yet to reach markets like India and was launched in the US only last month. It has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a choice of 8 or 16GB of RAM – all powered by a 4300mAh battery. In terms of optics, the device has a 50-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel secondary ultra-wide-angle camera. The standout feature of the device is probably its 5.92-inch FHD+ panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, all packed into a compact body – a big selling point for people who like compact flagship phones.
However, Zenfone’s previous flagship, the Zenfone 9, made it to India at a price of Rs 64,490 in 2022. It features a Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage and a compact 5.92-inch OLED display.
